Citroen GT
The GT by Citroën (sometimes spelled GTbyCitroën) is a sports car that debuted as a concept car on October 2 at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. The car is a collaboration between the French automaker Citroën and the Japanese racing simulation developer Polyphony Digital. 6 cars are said to be built. The expected MSRP is $2,000,000.The GT by Citroën concept car was specially created, designed and produced for the upcoming video game Gran Turismo 5 and was included through download in its latest version Gran Turismo 5: Prologue. Its designer came up with the project and sold it to both Polyphony Digital and Citroën.The car's exterior design was made by Takumi Yamamoto, a Japanese designer from Jean-Pierre Ploué's Style Citroën design team. Takumi Yamamoto was a childhood friend of Kazunori Yamauchi, director of Polyphony Digital and creator of the popular Gran Turismo franchise, also known as "Gegge". According to a Yamauchi interview at the Paris Motor Show 2008, he and Yamamoto started collaborating on this project back in 2003. A press release published on the North American Gran Turismo official website describes the Citroën and Polyphony Digital collaboration as a « a joint effort first talked about at the Geneva Motor Show past March [2008] ». Yamamoto convinced Jean-Pierre Ploué to submit his concept to Citroën's head office in Paris who agreed to start the production process and manufacture the real car. The concept car's rear was carefully designed to fit what the gamers will actually see in the game since it is the more powerful featured vehicle, argues Yamamoto.Monday, February 7, 2011
Citroen Antistatic Concept

Citroen has released today the renderings of the new Citroen Antistatic Concept, or E-3POD, The project was jointly sponsored by Citron and EXA, a France-based aerodynamicsimulationsoftwarecompany.
The best overall design was Heikki Juvonen's Citroen E 3POD Antistatic electric tripod which is a single seater vehicle features two small wheels at the front and a large third wheel with an innovative hub-less design. The Citroen E 3POD Antistatic electric tripod is positioned between bikes and cars in the micro segment, and is intended to enhance urban mobility as an addition to the family transportation fleet.
The designer Heikki Juvonen, receives a six monthemploymentcontract to work at the prestigious PSADesignCentre in Paris.
Press Release
A series of visionary designs in a Citron sponsored project have been unveiled at the Royal College of Arts Interim Degree Show in London. The Double Challenge project required RCA MA second year students to design a compelling ultra-compact model that could establish a unique Citron e-vehicle aesthetic for the future. The project was jointly sponsored by Citron and EXA, a France-based aerodynamic simulation software company.
Heikki Juvonens E-3POD Antistatic was chosen as the best overall design by representatives from Citrons Style Centre and Electric Vehicle Development Team. His single-seat creation is a bold and engaging take on an urban three wheel electric vehicle. The distinctive, aerodynamic styling features two smaller wheels at the front with the driver sitting inside a larger third wheel with an innovative hub-less design. As his prize, Heikki receives a six month employment contract to work at the prestigious PSA Design Centre in Paris.
Heikki commented; Im thrilled Citron selected my design as their favourite and I cant wait to work with their talented team in France. As a designer I strive for new and better solutions. Good and sustainable design not only improves manufacturer brand image and sales, but can also help to preserve our environment.
Citron had significant involvement throughout the Double Challenge project, providing industry figures to lend the students their expertise and experience, as well as organising a trip to the PSA Design Centre and Le Conservatoire, Citrons in-house museum of historic models.
Philippe Holland, Responsable Style Graphique at Citron, said; Were delighted to be involved in this important RCA project. The students have produced some truly exceptional ideas for the future design of electric Citron vehicles. This type of powertrain is increasingly recognised as an important solution for economically and environmentally viable urban transport; so its fantastic to see the electric visions of these potential car designers of tomorrow.
The RCA is the only exclusively postgraduate art and design university. The colleges Automotive Design course has been in existence for 40 years and is the oldest of its kind in Europe.
Mark Lloyd, Chief Designer of the award-winning Citroen DS3, previously studied at the Royal College of Art.
Designed by RCA student Heikki Juvonen, the Citron E-3POD Antistatic electric tripod is a new type of electric vehicle for urban commuting. The ultra-light, micro segment, single-seater is not meant to replace cars, but to be an addition to the family transportation fleet, positioned between bikes and cars. With the E-3POD, the user can enter the world of electric vehicles without having to sacrifice their main means of long distance travel in internal combustion engine cars. The distinctive look of the electric design language is applied to distinguish the product from being associated to cars, for the avoidance of comparison in terms of operational range or refuelling/recharging time. The E-3POD has a simplified, lightweight construction with an emphasis on aerodynamics to minimize the required battery size. This lowers the production costs, making the E-3POD affordable for purchase in addition to the family car - and a potential means of commuting for young people and students. The lowered weight is emphasized in design elements such as the rear wheel, which works as a supportive structural element, the shared suspension for both front wheels, and the use of scratch resistant plastic for the canopy. The silent electric engines also make sound insulation redundant, allowing for lighter material selection. The E-3POD provides the user with easy, cost efficient transport with access to easier parking due to the small footprint. The design also provides comfortable and isolated personal space, which - when compared to bicycles or public transport - is a welcome addition. The short length of the vehicle makes it agile in urban environments. At higher speeds the E-3POD tilts slightly to provide solid grip and an emphasised stance, giving cornering a more responsive feel.

Citroen Xsara Picasso Review
In 2000 the Xsara was facelifted; the car was now stiffer (so safety and handling improved), had a new front design and some interior modifications (i.e.: new steering wheel). New 1.6i and 2.0i 16 valve engines were being introduced and 1.8L were removed. Now Xsara is offered with following engine choices:* 1.4L (1361 cc 8 valve SOHC) 55 kW (74 hp) TU3JP 4 cylinder petrol 121 N·m (catalyst and itsposition were changed)
* 1.6L (1587 cc 16-valve DOHC) 81 kW (109 hp) TU5JP4 4 cylinder petrol (new, replaced 8 valve TU5JP engine)
* 2.0L (1998 cc 16-valve DOHC) 122 kW (164 hp) XU10J4RS 4 cylinder petrol (used till 2002)
* 2.0L (1998 cc 16-valve DOHC) 101 kW (135 hp) EW10J4 4 cylinder petrol (new, replaced XU10 engine)
* 1.4L (1398 cc) HDI 50 KW 68 PS DW4TD 01. 2004-31.12.2004
* 1.9L (1868 cc) 51 kW (69 PS; 68 hp) DW8 diesel (used till 2002)
* 1.9L (1868 cc) 53 kW (72 PS; 71 hp) DW8B diesel (new)
* 2.0L (1997 cc) 66 kW (90 PS; 89 hp) DW10TD turbodiesel (catalyst was changed, later central silencer was removed)
* 2.0L (1997 cc) 79 kW (107 PS; 106 hp) DW10ATED turbodiesel (new)
In line with other models from the same company at the time, the Xsara largely sold on price because of stiff competition from the class leader, the Renault Scenic. The 2002 model had slight interior modifications (i.e.: a different way of controlling the sound system from the steering wheel). In 2003 there were also some exterior modifications (i.e.: new front bumper). The Xsara hatchback was discontinued and replaced by the stylish[citation needed] C4 in 2004. The Xsara continues to be produced for the Chinese market by Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroën Automobile, a joint venture with the PSA Group.

Citroen REVOLTe Concept, 2009
Citroen REVOLTe Concept, 2009
A vibrant and sophisticated re-chargeable hybrid, Citron REVOLTe Concept represents a bold vision of the luxury, compact city car of tomorrow, combining confident styling with environmentally responsible technology to create a unique concept for the future of urban transportation.
Citron REVOLTe Concept reflects the changing role of small cars with style and elegance becoming as important as economy and practicality. True to Citron's credentials as a bold and forward-thinking brand, Citron REVOLTe Concept snubs the traditions of the conventional small urban vehicle, bringing a highly contemporary approach to the segment.
Inspired by the Citron 2CV, REVOLTe takes the key attributes of Citron's timeless and iconic classic and turns them on their head - a clear example of Citron looking to the future by taking inspiration from its cool past. Where the 2CV was plain and neutral, REVOLTe is luxurious and colourful; where the 2CV was basic and simple, Citron REVOLTe Concept is intelligent and technologically advanced and where the 2CV was slow and bouncy, REVOLTe is lively and spirited.
Compact, with a visually-stunning low stance, Citron REVOLTe Concept measures just 3.68m long, 1.73m wide and 1.35m tall. The well defined wheel arches, curving bonnet, forceful lines and sculpted sides that match the roof line, all combine to present a sleek and elegant profile.
Rear-hinged doors provide easy access to the multi-coloured cabin, with woven black leather, thick crimson velvet and gleaming aluminium. REVOLTe's bright colours and luxury styling reflects Citron's bold creativity and the desire to modernise notions of conventional car design. Thanks to iridescent, glossy colours, silky smooth textiles and sophisticated materials, Citron REVOLTe Concept has a vibrant, dare-to-be-different interior that throws tradition aside. The result is a small urban vehicle much more like a fashionable, glamorous and clearly feminine accessory to the driver's modern lifestyle.
The original and distinctive three-seater layout - driver's seat to one side with two passenger seats behind it - is designed to resemble a lounge, with the rear seats taking the form of a contemporary sofa. The passenger on the opposite side to the driver can stretch out their legs fully into the space where the front passenger seat would have traditionally been. Alternatively, Citron have made it possible to fit a rear-facing child-seat in the space available. Notably, the rear seats also serve to conceal the concept's battery pack, maximising useable cabin and luggage space.
Citron REVOLTe Concept also introduces luxury from the application of technology. The touch-sensitive screen that projects forward from the dashboard is encased in a deep-red beam of crystals - that also recycles the air on-board like a respiratory system. On the outside, REVOLTe's folding roof is covered with solar cells, which feed power to systems controlling on-board comfort - and reducing the load on the batteries. At the very front of Citron REVOLTe Concept, a backlit glass element is incorporated into the grille - this original feature highlights the chevrons above, subtly asserting the concept's identity as true Citron.
With a design philosophy of sophistication and the use of environmentally responsible technology, Citron REVOLTe Concept's re-chargeable hybrid power-train features a small-capacity conventional combustion engine combined with an electric motor and a battery re-charging function. Agile and responsive, REVOLTe's advanced drive-train delivers lively performance suited to the urban environment. Citron REVOLTe Concept also provides the option of CO2-free driving with the ability to run in all-electric ZEV (Zero Emission Vehicle) mode.

Citroen C4, 2009
Citroen C4, 2009
Citron's dynamic C4 range is now more alive with technology than ever before. An exciting new look gives the popular model even more appeal with new exterior and interior styling, updated equipment, body colours and wheel designs, as well as the introduction of two new low CO2, fuel efficient, petrol engines co-developed with BMW. HDi models will also be available with new low-rolling resistance Michelin tyres for improved fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
Changes to the exterior focus on restyling the vehicle's front end, bringing the Citron C4 in line with the prestigious looks of the recently launched Citron C5. Its new bonnet features a more rounded, curvier design, whilst the grille benefits from restyled integrated chevrons. The front bumper has also been revamped and the number plate repositioned for a stronger, sportier, more dynamic look.
The rear lights of the Citron C4 Coupe are now finished in transparent crystal and a choice of three new alloy wheel styles - either 16-inch or 17-inch - as well as two new body colours - Bourrasque and Recif blue are now available. For added elegance, chrome inserts are featured on some models.
In the cabin, the Citron C4 has been improved for enhanced comfort whilst, for greater clarity, the rev counter has been relocated to the innovative translucent central display unit. As with the award-winning Citron C4 Picasso, a plush grain is now featured on the dashboard and doors for a more upmarket feel. New decors have been designed with an improved quality finish whilst the integrated scented air freshener makes the interior smell as good as it looks.
The Citron C4 also retains much of the innovative equipment that made it a standard-setter when it was launched. Drivers can benefit from convenient and reassuring technology such as directional headlamps, front and rear parking assist, lane departure warning system, hill start assist, laminated side windows, speed limiter and cruise control.
The new Citron C4 arrives with all of the safety equipment that made the original Citron C4 such a reassuring car to drive, including the unique to Citron torso shaped driver's airbag that can be incorporated because of the fixed-centre steering wheel. The original Citron C4 achieved some of the highest EuroNCAP ratings in the segment for frontal impact, child protection as well as a 3-star pedestrian safety rating.
Citron's latest generation navigation system, NaviDrive, has also been introduced, which features a hi-resolution 7-inch colour screen with Europe-wide satellite navigation, real time traffic reports as well as an audio system with built-in 30GB hard drive. The system also offers a video auxiliary socket and a USB connection.
The Citron C4 is now available with two new petrol engines which have been co-developed with the BMW group - the 1.6 16v VTi 120hp and the 1.6 16v THP 150hp. Both units offer the optimum blend of performance, driving pleasure and fuel economy, with significantly lower consumption and CO2 emissions.
Citron C4 1.6 16V VTi 120hp (Variable valve lift and Timing Injection)
The VTi 120hp petrol engine, with a manual or automatic gearbox, replaces the 1.6i 16V 110hp unit, offering an economical and responsive driving experience, with fuel efficiency of 42.2mpg and CO2 emissions of 159g/km on the combined cycle (down 6% on the former unit).
The VTi unit is fitted with an aluminium block and cylinder head and features continuously variable valve timing. The intake valves also benefit from a system that allows their maximum travel to be adjusted gradually depending on the force applied to the accelerator pedal. These two features boost engine efficiency and increase responsiveness with some 90% of maximum torque available all the way through the rev range from under 2,000 through to 6,000rpm.
Citron C4 1.6i 16V THP 150hp (Turbo High Pressure)
The new THP 150hp (Turbo High Pressure) engine provides the perfect blend of higher performance, driving pleasure and economy with significantly lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. With its six-speed manual gearbox, the THP 150hp's fuel consumption is 40.9mpg on the combined cycle with CO2 emissions of 164g/km.
The THP 150hp features engine technology that is new to the Citron C4 range with the introduction of direct sequential injection and a twin-scroll turbocharger as well as continuously variable inlet valve timing. This gives the engine excellent low-down pulling power with maximum torque of 177lb.ft almost all the way from just 1,400 through to 3,500rpm and continues strongly through the rev range.
Citron's HDi diesel engine line-up is widely recognised for its frugal, clean and dynamic qualities, and in keeping with the model's upgrade, the Citron C4's diesel engine range has also been improved.
The 2.0HDi unit with six-speed manual gearbox and particulate filter fitted as standard, boasts fuel efficiency of 53.3mpg on the combined cycle and CO2 emissions of just 140g/km. The other diesel powered models - the 1.6HDi 92hp and 1.6HDi 16V 110hp DPFS EGS - are just as dynamic as before and now even greener thanks to a switch to low rolling resistance Michelin Energy Saver tyres, available on 16-inch wheels, which reduce the fuel consumption and lower the CO2 emissions.
The original Citron C4 was one of the most environmentally friendly cars in the small family segment with two models returning emissions of 120g/km. Now, with its reduced emissions, the Citron C4 is even cleaner and even greener.
