Mercedes-Benz S-Class by Inden Design

Inden Design, a German based tuning firm, unveiled their latest package that aims to make the Mercedes-Benz S500 (W221) look more like the S65 AMG.

Along with the S65 AMG front end, Inden Design further modified the front end, side skirts and rear diffuser to reflect their style. Daytime running lights were also installed while the taillights and mirrors were refinished. Accent the entire package with a charcoal-gray matte wrap and youve got one clean luxury sedan.

Power has been bumped to 420 hp, in particular thanks to a stainless steel exhaust system with two AMG tailpipes left and right. Due to the increased power, the braking system was converted to 6-piston front calipers and 4-piston rear calipers.

New 20-inch alloy rims fitted with 265/30 front and 275/30 rear tires are available alongside a new braking system with six and four pistons and a ground clearance lowered by 50 mm thanks to the new suspension. Inside, Inden Design fitted the German model with carbon fiber trim, Alcantara and leather.

Inside, the S-Class receives more luxury refinement with the A, B and C Pillars, headliner, dashboard and door panels reupholstered in two-tone leather and black Alcantara. The wood accents have been replaced with black carbon counterparts.

FLY EXPRESS - unequal rival by INDEN Design

An icon of good style in the luxury class is the Mercedes-Benz S-Class without any doubts. Unending comfort, last future-oriented technologies, as well as all conceivable safety precautions are inevitable in the car of this category.

The widely known beyond the borders of the Hessian Haiger-Flammersbach noble tuner INDEN Design specializes in the just discussed vehicles, located very near the top category. In this case, Joachim Inden, which is known for so many masterpieces, has undertaken to rebuild the S500 of W221 series from Stuttgart to the facelift version of the S65 AMG. The modifications at the front, the side sills and rear diffuser are associated with the highly visible and distinctive quality of INDEN-Design. Of course, daytime running lights were also installed, and tail lights and mirrors were retouched. The vehicle is completed with the chrome parts, coated with charcoal-gray matte film.

The performance increase up to 420 hp, in particular thanks to a stainless steel exhaust system with two AMG tailpipes left and right, almost inevitably involves lifting of the Vmax limiter. Due to the increased power, the braking system was "converted" to the S600 V12 BiTurbo model with 6-piston front calipers and 4-piston brake calipers. The right set of rims for the perfect vehicle in dimension of 10.5 x 20" with tires in 265/30-20 at the front and 275/30-20 - at the rear axle was fully installed. The standards of agility are set by lowering by 50 millimeters.

As might be expected, the interior was also not spared. The A, B and C pillars, the headliner at the dashboard and door panel are trimmed with two-color leather in combination with black Alcantara. In addition, all former wood pieces were replaced with black carbon parts. The speedometer change to a 360 km/h-scale closes the series of changes inside the vehicle.

As seen in the photos, thanks to INDEN-Design, the Mercedes stomp their hooves impatiently in anticipation of a power struggle with the unequal rival...

BRABUS 800 WIDESTAR

The World's Most Powerful Off-Roader

It's all in the name: The BRABUS 800 WIDESTAR, the world's most powerful off-roader, is powered by a twelve-cylinder bi-turbo high-capacity engine with a rated power output of 800 hp (788 bhp) / 588 kW. It takes the crown from its predecessor made by the same company, the BRABUS G V12 S with 700 hp (690 bhp) / 515 kW. Visually the power off-roader sets itself apart with its WIDESTAR wide-body equipment and 23-inch BRABUS "PLATINUM EDITION" forged wheels.

BRABUS (Brabus-Allee, D-46240 Bottrop, phone + 49 / (0) 2041 / 777-0, fax + 49 / (0) 2041 / 777 111, Internet www.brabus.com) builds the five-door vehicle by hand based on the current Mercedes G-Class. Like all special models from BRABUS, recognized by the German Federal Vehicle Registration Agency as a car manufacturer, the BRABUS 800 WIDESTAR is available with an extensive luxury equipment package.

As the name indicates, the BRABUS 800 V12 Biturbo engine is implanted into the engine bay of the G-Class. The elaborate implantation of the twelve-cylinder engine is as much a masterwork as is its design, which is based on the V12 bi-turbo engine from the current Mercedes S 600 model.

The basis for the enormous increase in power is the displacement increase. Displacement of the three-valve engine is increased from 5.5 to 6.3 liters (336 to 384 cubic inches) in the state-of-the-art BRABUS engine shop with the help of a special crankshaft with longer stroke and larger pistons and corresponding cylinder bore. Additionally the cylinder heads are optimized for mixture flow and fitted with special camshafts.

The engine peripherals now include an entirely new intake system and the BRABUS 800 bi-turbo system with two special manifolds with integrated turbine housings and high-performance turbochargers, and four water-to-air intercoolers. This ensemble is joined by a stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system custom-developed for the BRABUS 800. It features free-flow metal catalysts and four chrome tailpipes that exit in pairs in front of both rear wheels.

Precision mapping for engine electronics coordinate the perfect interaction of all new components and ensures exemplary smoothness, maximum power yield and low emissions.

With these modifications the engine in the BRABUS 800 WIDESTAR delivers a staggering rated power output of 800 hp (788 bhp) / 588 kW at 5,500 rpm and an even more impressive peak torque of 1,420 Nm (1,047 lb-ft), already available from a low 2.100 rpm. In the vehicle peak torque is limited electronically to 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft). The high-tech lubricants for the entire powertrain come from technology partner ARAL.

Driving performance speaks for itself: Combined with a reinforced five-speed automatic transmission and permanent four-wheel drive the engine shoots the BRABUS 800 WIDESTAR from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.0 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 240 km/h (149 mph). Without the limiter the high-performance off-roader would be capable of reaching 270 km/h (168 mph).

In keeping with its unique performance the BRABUS supercar also sports a delectable exterior: The BRABUS WIDESTAR wide-body version lends the classic G-Class body an even more striking and dynamic profile.

The powerfully shaped fender flares add 12 centimeters (4.7 in.) to the body width. They feature integrated air outlets for optimized venting of the wheel wells. Strikingly styled door moldings give the sides of the G-Class high recognition value. Sturdy stainless-steel running boards facilitate entering and exiting of the vehicle day and night. LED lights integrated into the front and rear WIDESTAR fenders illuminate the running boards whenever a door handle is pulled or the keyless fob is operated.

The WIDESTAR fender flares create space for extremely large wheels and tires. BRABUS offers the owner of the wide-body version, which is also available for all regular five-door G-Class models, a wide range of custom-tailored tire/wheel combinations with diameters between 20 and 23 inches. The most exclusive option for the 800 WIDESTAR features size 11Jx23 wheels front and back. Customers can choose from two newly developed forged wheels, the three-piece Monoblock E evo "PLATINUM EDITION" design or the one-piece Monoblock F "PLATINUM EDITION" wheel. The high-performance tires in size 305/35 R 23 come from Pirelli or YOKOHAMA.

The BRABUS WIDESTAR version offers not just a wider track but also an even more impressive appearance. The front apron continues the shape of the flares on both sides and provides the engine and front brakes with cooling air through generously dimensioned air inlets. At the same time its sophisticated contour also reduces lift on the front axle. Six stylishly integrated auxiliary headlights optimize active safety at night. During the day the BRABUS LED daytime running lights below the main headlamps draw attention to the power-G.

The design style of the front apron with its tapered flares and stylized underride guard is continued on the rear apron. The WIDESTAR rear bumper features a centrally mounted reflector and a fog lamp and backup light on either side. The designer suite is rounded out by the BRABUS roof spoiler with integrated LED brake light.

For a perfect combination of sporty handling and excellent ride comfort the BRABUS 800 WIDESTAR comes equipped with the innovative BRABUS Ride Control smooth-ride suspension. The BRABUS high-tech suspension system was developed in cooperation with technology partner BILSTEIN, and features two-way electrically adjustable shock absorbers front and back.

At the push of an aluminum button with BRABUS logo on the center console the driver can manually choose between two setups: In comfort mode the off-roader offers exemplary ride comfort. At higher speeds or for more spirited driving selecting the firmer damper setting results in more dynamic handling and further increased safety reserves.

Additionally the BRABUS Ride Control suspension features automatic damper adjustment. When the vehicle sensors detect that certain parameters such as speed, lateral acceleration and steering angle might lead to a critical situation the system automatically switches to the firmer sport setting within milliseconds. The sportier damper setup further increases the directional stability of the 4x4. The CAN control unit also detects a return to a more moderate driving style. It then automatically switches the shock absorbers back to the comfort position.

Another active safety feature is the BRABUS high-performance brake system. The front axle is fitted with six-piston aluminum fixed calipers and vented discs with a diameter of 380 millimeters (15.0 inches). The rear stops on four-piston aluminum fixed calipers and 345-mm discs (13.6 inches).

The cockpit of the BRABUS 800 WIDESTAR is exclusive and individual. The equipment list includes an ergonomically shaped sport steering wheel, a speedometer with 280-km/h (182-mph) dial and stainless-steel scuff plates with illuminated BRABUS logo.

The BRABUS interior is custom-tailored to suit the individual owner's taste and the especially soft and breathable BRABUS Mastik leather and Alcantara is available in a multitude of colors. Customers can also choose from various upholstery designs and the wood trim can be manufactured in any desired color. Upon request the wood elements can even be finished in the especially exclusive yachting design.

2011 Carlsson C25 Royale

German tuner Carlsson has revealed the new C25 Royale Super GT at the Geneva Motor Show. The Carlsson C25 Royale Super GT is based on the Mercedes SL 65 AMG, featuring unique carbon fibre body and interior. The 6.0 litre bi-turbo V12 engine is upgraded to produce an 743bhp) and an electronically limited 848 lb-ft of torque.

Carlssons Super GT C25 Royale sports over 70 innovations and is 180 kilograms lighter than its basis Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG, due largely to its complete real carbon exterior. Aimed at offering customers an exclusive ride that can be used as both, a ultra-fast race-like car or a daily ride, the Carlsson C25 Royale further highlights a full ceramic brake system and lower center of gravity, which allows more dynamic cornering ability and more agile handling.

Power is sent to rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission, enabling the 1,970kg luxury sports coupe to accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 219 mph.

Inside, the cabin is relatively untouched but there is a revised center console which is cantered towards the driver. If you find this less than thrilling, you can add carbon fiber trim (13,564), a FOCAL audio system (18,860), and the Clubsport package which includes race seats, a roll cage, a fire extinguisher, and six-point safety harnesses (35,400).

Press Release

World premiere in Geneva:
Super GT Carlsson C25 Royale

  • More than 70 innovations in Carlsson's new Super GT
  • C25 Royale saves 180 kilograms of weight compared to basis model
  • Roof made from real carbon lowers the car's centre of gravity
  • V12 biturbo engine with 753 hp capable of achieving 352 kph
  • Each vehicles is absolutely unique

As part of its new 2011 generation range, automobile manufacturer Carlsson presents its C25 Royale Super GT with carbon roof and exterior, optimised driving dynamics and perfected electronics. The philosophy remains the same: with excellent design and the utmost in exclusivity, the C25 Royale combines maximum driving performance with everyday practicality.

Safety is another area where the C25 Royale fulfils highest standards. This is due to the crash structure which is the same as in the basis model and guarantees maximal protection for the passengers. Also, the Super GT presents itself extremely easy to service. All workshop of the worldwide Mercedes-Benz service network can service the C25 Royale.

The C25 Royale presents itself as a counter-design to the electro hype. More than 40 electric motors are used in the C25 Royale as well - but underneath the bonnet you'll find a traditional 12-cylinder engine, whose 753 hp ensure not only power but also thunderous drive. The purified exhaust gases make an impressive sound as they exit through the four diamond-shaped tailpipes into the open air. The breathtaking power pushes the driver into the ergonomically shaped seats, which have a massage function and a ventilation system to ensure greater comfort on long journeys. In addition, the transmission tunnel, incorporating all the important control functions, is headed towards the driver, allowing him to give his full attention to the road ahead. Because in the C25 Royale, the journey is its own reward.

Carlsson has realised more than 70 innovations in the new C25 Royale. The car's handling in particular is better than ever before. Plus, compared to the basis model Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG, the C25 Royale is 180 kilogram lighter which is due largely to the complete real carbon exterior. This not only reduces the overall weight of the Super GT, it also effectively lowers the car's centre of gravity and allows more dynamic cornering ability and more agile handling as Carlsson has revised the vehicle's entire weight distribution and installed a differential lock. The full ceramic brake system reduces the weight by 50 percent and reduces the unsprung mass for a more dynamic handling. The generously designed ceramic brake discs and the solid aluminium callipers allows later braking coming into bends while the revised electronics guarantee improved response, giving greater dynamism when coming off bends.

The C25 Royale's outstanding performance data is impressive too. The strikingly beautiful sports coup with the V12 biturbo engine achieves 753 hp (554 kW) and maximum torque of 1320 Newton metres (which is limited electronically to 1150 Newton metres). This allows the Super GT to race from 0 to 100 kph in just 3.7 seconds and to achieve a maximum speed of 352 kph.

Only one C25 per country guarantees the utmost in exclusivity

In addition, Carlsson (which has been recognised as an independent manufacturer for some years now by the German Federal Motor Transport Authority Kraftfahrtbundesamt) can offer one excellent unique selling point: Not more than 25 specimens of the C25 Royale are being made. And, to enhance the exclusivity of this ultra-limited edition still further, Carlsson is only delivering one vehicle per country. Six vehicles are already sold and will be delivered to the customers in 2011. It takes six month from order to delivery.

Each C25 Royale is absolutely unique. Colours and paint combinations can be put together as per the customer's wishes. Similarly, the customer can decide what materials are used and what interior features their vehicle will have. Not one of the already ordered vehicles is alike the other ones.

Maximum performance combined with everyday comfort for the first time

The Carlsson C25 Royale is not just an exclusive vehicle with outstanding performance data. The engineers at Gut Wiesenhof, Carlsson's headquarters in Germany, are the ones in the world to bring together the performance data of a super car with everyday practicality. "There are more than enough super cars around that can only be driven safely on a racing track", says engineer Markus Schuster, Managing Director at Carlsson. "We deliberately wanted to develop a car that is exclusive on the one hand but can still be used for the daily commute to the office. A Super GT which can go from 0 to 100 kph in just 3.7 seconds while at the same time offering the utmost in ride comfort."

In particular, the intelligent C-Tronic SUSPENSION developed by Carlsson guarantees excellent ride comfort. This system measures a whole range of parameters, like the spring rate, on a continuous basis, which allows it to detect the road conditions and the driving style. Where road conditions are poor, the C-Tronic raises the residual spring travel, thereby providing optimal ride comfort. As soon as the surface conditions have improved, the system will lower the entire suspension completely automatically and achieve perfect cornering dynamics.

Emotions instead of sacrifice

The twelve-cylinder reflects the company's performance capacity and competence. Carlsson emphasises on first-class engineering instead of immature technology, on daily suitability instead of utopian scenarios, on emotions instead of sacrifice.

With the C25 Royale, Carlsson has gone one step further on the road to developing a completely new class of vehicle. No other car manages to combine excellent driving performance, unique design, perfect everyday practicality and the utmost in exclusivity.

2012 Mercedes C-Class Coupe

Mercedes-Benz has released the first details and images of the upcoming2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Classahead of its Geneva Motor Show launch next month.

The new model isn't Benz's first attempt at crafting a C-Coupe, but it is a remarkably different approach. Unlike the C-Class Sportcoupe hatchback, sold here from 2002 to 2007, the new two-door C-Class isn't a basic, entry-level luxury compact. Instead of competing against Audi A3s, this C is gunning directly at BMW's 3-Series Coupe.

Exterior styling is certainly handsome, if not predictable. The new C-Class Coupe is almost the splitting image of the C-Class sedan, and even uses the same front fascia and fenders as its four-door siblings. Coupe models do receive a sweeping panoramic glass roof that's nearly an inch and a half lower than the sedan, and incorporates a very BMW-like kick in the quarter window design.

Inside, the cabin echoes the rest of the C-Class lineup and comes nicely equipped with a flat-bottom steering wheel, aluminum trim (Burl Walnut and Ash Olive Matte are also available), metallic accents, and a 5.8-inch COMAND display. Options include heated front seats, a Harman/Kardon audio system, and GPS navigation.

The engine lineup should mirror that of its Sedan sibling too, including the new four-cylinder engine in the C250 Sport. This means that the base engine for the C-Class Coupe will come with a 201 horsepower 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder mill. It will be positioned below a V-6 model equipped with a 302 horsepower 3.5-liter engine that's claimed to be capable of sub 6.0 second 0-60 mph sprints and a fuel economy of 34.6 mpg for the European cycle.

World premiere in Geneva

  • In a class of its own: expressive, dramatic coupe design
  • Drive and vigor: two powerful direct-injection engines to choose from
  • Helping hand: numerous assistance systems available
  • Connected: new generation of telematics

The new MY2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe will debut at the Geneva Motor Show on March 1 and make its way to U.S. showrooms in September. The 302-hp C350 and 201-hp C250 include the progressive technology featured on the upcoming MY2012 C-Class sedan, but packaged in a coupe design that combines pure driving fun with exemplary efficiency.

"By extending the C-Class portfolio, we are consciously targeting new customers," says Dr. Joachim Schmidt, Head of Sales and Marketing at Mercedes-Benz Cars. "The new model is youthful, stylish and expressive. What we are offering is an exceptionally sporty way to enter the world of the Mercedes-Benz coupe."

Dramatic design with classic coupe proportions

From the side, the new coupe captivates the onlooker with its compact proportions, low silhouette (1.5 inches flatter than the sedan) with powerful shoulders and a narrow C-pillar in a classic three-box design. Typical coupe features include the short front overhang, long hood, steeply raked windshield and long, sloping roof. The greenhouse extends far beyond the rear axle to an aggressive short rear end.

While the wedge-shaped, sloping beltline provides a link to the C-Class sedan, its strong upsweep into the C-pillar is an entirely distinctive element. This part of the beltline trim moves sharply upwards to meet the roofline trim and not only adds an aggressive touch to the side windows but also enhances the powerful shoulders.

Front and rear: truly a coupe, truly C-Class

At the front, the new coupe shares the same styling as the latest C-Class sedan and yet still has its own personality. The front view is dominated by the prominent radiator grille surround including the bumper. The center air intake opens upwards, forming a visual base for the radiator grille, which has the double-louvre style typical of a coupe. Two chrome louvers extend on either side of the central star, tapering off at the outer edges and creating an aggressive, arrow-shaped horizontal sweep which gives the front end a pronounced V-shape.

This continues into the side sections which extend from beneath the headlamps and blend into the feature lines along the vehicle's length, thereby linking the front end with the sides. The side air intakes in the bumper featuring integrated horizontal daytime running lamps are positioned low, giving the coupe a road-hugging appearance. The shape of the clear-lens headlamps creates a dramatic impression, and acts together with the hood, radiator grille and bumper trim to reinforce the pronounced front section.

From the rear, the new C-Class Coupe looks athletically compact. The appearance of length is reduced by the flowing roof beyond the rear axle, steeply raked rear window and fluid C-pillars. A wide groove at the top of the trunk lid, which is based on the side panel, emphasizes the rear's compactness. Positioning the tail lights as far apart as possible emphasizes width. This particular impression of depth is achieved by a centrally located LED indicator, which appears to float in front of the red upper and lower lights with their more deeply set LEDs. Continuous, horizontal light-catching contours in the bumper further accentuate the broad, deep-set effect. A diffuser towards the bottom of the rear bumper between the tailpipe trim makes the rear end look lighter and gives the vehicle a distinctively sporty and dramatic quality.

Highest quality with exclusive color accents

The instrument panel features three tube rings with a metallic finish, the new three-spoke steering wheel features a flat bottom and comes standard with shift paddles. The surfaces of the controls are finely detailed and metallic. The stepped top of the dashboard also accommodates the standard 5.8-inch central display and continues onto the front passenger side as a discreet light-catching contour. The central, trapezoidal air vents and the round vents on the outside are highlighted in detail by metallic trim. The control panel of the new center stack has silver-colored keys, while the combination of matte keys, high-gloss areas and a new controller knob design underline the high quality of the interior.

A large section of trim highlights the dashboard, extending from the center air vents across the front passenger side to the outer air vent, emphasizing the interior's generous proportions. Aluminum trim is standard on the C250 Coupe, while the C350 Coupe features rich Burl Walnut. Unique Ash Olive Matte Wood Trim is optionally available.

The C-Class Coupe is a fully fledged four-seater featuring four sporty, comfortable seats with integrated headrests. If desired, the backrests in the rear can be folded to extend the storage area.

Enhanced telematics with more ease of operation and attractive good looks

The C-Class Coupe features the new telematics generation. Major new features include greater operating convenience, larger displays, phone book transfer, wireless Bluetooth audio streaming and a USB interface now located in the center armrest.

Integrated services include SIRIUS weather information and a special destination search via Google, as well as the option of downloading a route that has been previously configured on a PC using Google Maps and sent to the car. The optional COMAND navigation system also has a new 3D display with city views.

Driving routes covered can now be recorded and recalled later, specific personal destinations can be saved or imported via an SD card and four alternative routes can be displayed on the navigation map including an especially economical route.

Plenty of performance, low fuel consumption

There is a choice of two new direct-injection gasoline engines to power the C-Class Coupe and both models are equipped with a more fuel efficient 7-speed automatic transmission.

The V6 gasoline engine in the C350 features the efficient BlueDIRECT injection and delivers 302 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. Average combined fuel consumption is 22 mpg (estimated). The four-cylinder gasoline engine in the C250 also features direct injection and is turbocharged, offering high performance and exemplary economy.

Chassis: agile handling and a high level of comfort

The standard AGILITY CONTROL suspension complements the dynamic engines to perfection. This is based on an amplitude-dependent damping system: when driving normally with low shock absorber impulses, the damping forces are automatically reduced for a noticeable improvement in road noise and tire vibration - but without any compromise in handling safety. When shock absorber impulses increase, for example when cornering at speed or performing evasive maneuvers, the maximum damping forces are set and the car is effectively stabilized. The AGILITY CONTROL suspension is complemented by a rack-and-pinion steering system.

Precision suspension: three-link front axle, multi-link independent rear suspension

The front axle has a three-link construction with McPherson spring struts. The lower control arm consists of two separate elements which serve as torque and cross struts and are both made of aluminum. The third link in the front suspension is the tie rod which connects the transverse steering gear to the wheels. The reinforced anti-roll bar is connected to the spring strut which is likewise actively involved in directing the front wheels.

With multi-link independent rear suspension, the wheel is attached to five flexibly mounted, independently acting control arms which restrict five of the available spatial movements: thanks to this intelligent control arm construction each rear wheel basically retains freedom of movement in one plane only, namely during controlled compression and rebound.

Driver assistance systems provide warnings and intervene

With nine airbags as standard, belt tensioners and belt-force limiters for all seats, the C-Class Coupe has extensive safety features. The airbags, which can deploy in milliseconds in the event of an accident, include front, side and pelvic airbags for the driver and front passenger, a kneebag on the driver's side, and headbags. The side protection system - comprising headbag and thoraxbag - optimizes the level of protection afforded to individual parts of the body.

With a number of driving assistance systems ranging from standard ATTENTION ASSIST drowsiness detection to optional Lane Keeping Assist, the coupe provides a comprehensive level of driver support and protection. The assistance systems are based on the latest radar, camera and sensor technology, and cover frequent accident causes such as distraction, fatigue and darkness.
