The Chrysler 200 is a mid-size sedan and convertible produced by Chrysler, being introduced for the 2011 model year. The Chrysler 200 is essentially a new nameplate with a significant facelift to the outgoing 2010 Chrysler Sebring.Although the Sebring platform has been retained, there have been numerous cosmetic and powertrain changes to the 200. While the 2.4 L four-cylinder engine with either a four-speed or six-speed automatic transmission is carried over, Chrysler's new 3.6 L V6 is offered, with a six-speed automatic transmission, generating 283 horsepower (211 kW) and 260 lb·ft (350 N·m) of torque. Other changes include stiffer body mounts, a softer ride rate, revised suspension geometry, a new rear sway bar, and upgraded tires. The 200 also introduces more premium features than the Sebring, such as LED lighting, thicker seat cushioning with higher quality materials, and new measures to decrease noise, vibration, and harshness. The 200 is produced at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant and arrived at dealers in December 2010. A 2-door convertible model was added in early 2011 with the same engine choices. The 200 name first appeared on a prototype hybrid vehicle shown at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show, called the 200C. The prototype was based on the Chrysler 300. While Chrysler's sales chief, Steven Landry, said it had been approved for production, CEO Sergio Marchionne later said it was not practical. The 200C concept was engineered to accept either a traditional gasoline engine, hybrid or electric powertrain. In Continental Europe it will be sold under the Lancia badge.

Chicago Auto Show: 2011 Chrysler 200 Convertible

Chrysler has unveiled the Chrysler 200 Convertible, which will make its world public debut at the 2011 Chicago Auto Show on February 9,
The new 200 Convertible is available with the choice of two power automatically latching tops, a body-color-painted steel retractable hard top, or a cloth soft top, both of which can drop with the press of a button on the key fob.
The 200 Convertible will sell with a choice of four-cylinder or V6 engines, both with a six-speed automatic (a dual-clutch six-speed will be available on the four-cylinder with late introduction), and with a choice of single-button-activated cloth or hard tops. Differentiating the 200 from the Sebring is a retuned suspension, a new V6, the six-speed/four-cylinder combination, a new interior, and dramatically different styling.
The Chrysler 200 Convertible will start arriving at dealerships in spring with a base price of $27,195.
