Gladiator is an effort by Yamaha Motor India to make a place for itself in the executive bike segment. Developed as a next generation fun bike, Gladiator brings with it the values of superb performance, new styling, greater handling and comfort. It targets the users, who want style with stability.
Looks and Styling
Yamaha retains the basic build of the Fazer, yet it sports a more traditional look. Sporting a chunky design, the bike has die-cast triple clamp and a large fuel tank with its shapely dummy air scoops on both sides. The stepped up design of the seat lends a masculine look to the Gladiator. The bike is equipped with features like fuel tank with sense of graphics and volume, new design side cover, tail cowl and front cowl, newly designed shroud highlighting downforce line etc.
Control and Comfort
The counter balancer for the crankshaft results in low vibrations for the Gladiator. Thus it improves the overall refinement and ride comfort. The Gladiator is available with a unique fuel-saving feature called YTPS or the Yamaha Throttle Position Sensor. The Yamaha Gladiator DX is equipped with an electric start and 240 mm front disc brakes, while the standard Yamaha Gladiator comes with drum brakes and kickstart. The bike can be started in any gear and offers excellent corner handling. Its masculine body structure assisted by light weight diamond type frame is the assurance of stable riding. Suspension system ensures the smooth, jerk free biking.
Engine
The Gladiator is equipped with a single cylinder, four-stroke engine that churns out a displacement of 123.7cc. The engine produces a peak power of 11PS at 7,500 rpm and the peak torque of 10.4Nm sets at 6,500 rpm. Gladiator power unit is characterized by its 5 speed transmission, with optimized gear ratios. Lighting arrangement include 35W/35W multi-reflector head light, position indicator and combination indicators, combination tail light etc.
