Land Rover Defender SVX Special Edition

60th Anniversary

At last nights British Red Cross Ball in London, Zara Phillips unveiled the Land Rover Defender SVX Special Edition. The Defender SVX commemorates the 60th anniversary of the iconic off-roader and the first SVX has been donated to the Red Cross for auctioning.

Funds raised from auctioning this vehicle will go towards the work of the Red Cross in the UK and overseas, which this year has included the UK floods, Darfur Crisis and ongoing HIV work in Africa." said James Johnstone, chairman for the British Red Cross Ball.

The Land Rover Defender SVX comes in metallic black with subtle satin black decals and is available in both 90 soft-top and 90 station wagon versions. The exterior is touched up with silver finishes, clear lens headlights, new surround on the front grille, tubular side-steps, 'diamond turned' five spoke alloy wheels, reinforced aluminium front udnershield, LED rear lights and of course custom badges.

Inside the special edition is adorned with Recaro sport seats, alloy gear knobs, sat nav, iPod cradle, fancy audio system and the soft-top comes with a metallic silver tubular cage that supports a tailor-made, removable black fabric hood.

200 units will be made (140 Defender 90 soft-tops and 60 90 station wagons) and each one will have a numbered plaque with production starting in the spring of 2008. "The Defender SVX looks very different to a spartan 1948 Land Rover, but it's still an essentially practical vehicle that will enable you to go almost anywhere," says Phil Popham, Land Rover's managing director.
